| In many organizations
the task of selling advertising space in these publications fall to
the officers and member volunteers, all of whom have full-time positions
and thus do not have much free time to devote their attention to developing
sales leads and following up on prospective advertisers. If the organization
has a paid Executive Director and staff, the task of generating advertising
revenue will fall on their shoulders. However, they are often caught
up with the day-to-day functions of recruiting new members, publishing
a monthly or weekly newsletter, maintaining a membership roster, organizing
luncheons or various fund-raising events and acting as a liaison between
members and the national association.
Contracting with an outside publishing house is
an alternative to single-handling responsibility for producing your
organization's membership directory. New Cities Online has produced
over a dozen chamber and association guides and directories for
organizations as small as 150 members to those with over 4,000 members.
